Paula Ossand\u00f3n Cabrera, director of Chiledoc, talks about the South-American country\u2019s activities at this film fest. <\/strong><\/p>\n

Guadalajara International Film Festival (FICG) 36th version is ready to go, and the Chilean delegation will be present with over 50 professionals from the audiovisual world. In this interview, Paula Ossand\u00f3n Cabrera, director of Chiledoc, talks about the South-American country\u2019s activities at this film fest. <\/p>\n

\u201cWe have a long tradition of participation at this festival, as well as a lot of love for it because it has helped to strengthen Chilean audiovisual production. We have been part of selections in different market and festival sections. That means, some movies have gone through DocuLab for instance, and have then premiered at FICG. So, that\u2019s important because they prioritize projects already in the making.\u201d<\/p>\n

Over 50 Chilean professionals at FICG\u2019s activities will be participating both online and on-site, and Paula emphasizes at least 25 will be at Guadalajara: \u201cWe will have all these networking events where we will offer cocktails to every single industry representative at Guadalajara.\u201d<\/p>\n

For the 36th edition, Paula mentions 11 movies; fiction features, documentaries, and short films have been selected. Competing at the Iberoamerican Feature Film category, are: \u201cImmersion\u201d directed by Nicol\u00e1s Postiglione; \u201cTo Kill the Beast\u201d, directed by Agustina San Mart\u00edn and produced by Florencia Rodriguez; \u201cDusk Stone\u201d, directed by Ivan Fund and produced by Catalina Vergara and Laura Tabl\u00f3n; and \u201cMy Brothers Dream Awake\u201d, directed by Claudia Huaiquimilla. <\/p>\n

The awarded movie \u201cThe Sky is Red\u201d, directed by Francina Carbonell, will be presented in the Iberoamerican Documentary category. Besides, three short films selected for the Iberoamerican Short Film category will be participating. These are; \u201cAn Impossible Love Story\u201d, directed by Javier Mardones and produced by Margarita Fuenzalida; \u201cI Dreamed I Was Alive\u201d, directed by Sebasti\u00e1n Gonz\u00e1lez; and \u201cA House in the Sand\u201d, directed by Crist\u00f3bal Garc\u00eda and produced by Francisco Bisa\u00f1ez.<\/p>\n

At the Rigo Mora Award, three Chilean animated short films will be presented: \u201cUninhabited\u201d, directed by Camila Donoso; \u201cBeast\u201d, directed by Hugo Covarrubias and produced by Tevo D\u00edaz, winner at the Annency International Animation Film Festival of the Festival Connexion Award; and \u201cThe Bones\u201d, directed by Crist\u00f3bal Leon and Joaqu\u00edn Coci\u00f1a and produced by Lucas Engel, a recent winner at the Venice International Film Festival of the Best Short Film award in the Horizons section. <\/p>\n

The Chilean film, \u201cUnder Suspicion\u201d, will be part of the DocuLab, whereas \u201cThe Outcast\u2019s Dance\u201d, a series project directed by Angel Linares and Emilio Aguilar and produced by Jimena Mancilla and Miguel \u00c1ngel Sanchez, will be part of Episode 0: Developing series. This section brings selected projects the opportunity to attend intensive meetings with television and film industry professionals. And the movie \u201cHistory and Geography\u201d, directed by Bernardo Quesney, will be presented at Guadalajara Builds.<\/p>\n

About Chiledoc<\/p>\n

\u201cChiledoc is the Chilean documentary\u2019s sectorial brand\u201d, shares Paula. \u201cThat means it represents Chilean documentaries around the world\u201d. She explains production in this genre is known for its high quality. \u201cIt is a very linked community, very tight in general\u201d.
