{"id":2635,"date":"2021-10-07T12:08:09","date_gmt":"2021-10-07T15:08:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.chiledoc.cl\/en\/?p=2635"},"modified":"2021-10-12T09:48:35","modified_gmt":"2021-10-12T12:48:35","slug":"chilean-filmmakers-embassy-draws-attention-at-ficg","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.chiledoc.cl\/en\/chilean-filmmakers-embassy-draws-attention-at-ficg\/","title":{"rendered":"Chilean filmmakers\u2019 embassy draws attention at FICG"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>By <a href=\"https:\/\/zetatijuana.com\/2021\/10\/cautiva-embajada-de-cineastas-chilenos-en-el-ficg\/\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>Zeta Tijuana<\/strong><\/a><br \/>\nOCTOBER 5, 201.<\/p>\n<p>Zapopan, Jalisco.- Not officially the guest country, Chile arrived at the 36th Guadalajara International Film Festival with an embassy of over 50 professionals, showing 19 films, and multiple projects, drawing attention to its bet, critical eye, film construction, unity, and steady pace when sharing identities, interests and common languages. <\/p>\n<p>Making its way through the largest Latin-American film party, Chile has taken over several market and industry sections, with titles like \u201cThe sky is red\u201d (documentary), and Claudia Huaiquimilla\u2019s last movie, \u201cMy brothers dream awake\u201d, besides competing for the Rigo Mora Award with the animation short film \u201cBeast and the bones\u201d, winner at Venice Film Festival; not forgetting its participation at the Coproduction Meeting. <\/p>\n<p>Concerning its participation, Jorge O\u2019Ryan, ProChile\u2019s general director, points that for its size within the audiovisual industry, FICG is a crucial event for Chile, as this year looks to broaden and deepen our producing companies and their fiction, documentary, and\/or animation productions\u2019 presence in this market, networking and linking Chilean industry at DocuLab, Guadalajara Builds, or the Coproduction Meeting.<\/p>\n<p>On the other hand, Constanza Arena from CinemaChile added: \u201cAs the sectorial brand for the entire Chilean audiovisual sector in fiction, documentary, and animation, in both feature, short and episodic format, we have been building a bond for over 12 years with the festival. This bond was founded on collaborative work, with particular attention to our filmography.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Standing out at the Iberoamerican Feature Film category are titles like \u201cInmersion\u201d, directed by Nicol\u00e1s Postiglione; \u201cTo kill the beast\u201d, directed by Agustina San Mart\u00edn; \u201cDusk Stone\u201d, directed by Ivan Fund; and \u201cMy brothers dream awake\u201d, directed by Claudia Huaiquimilla. \u201cMy brothers dream awake\u201d had its premiere at the Locarno International Film Festival in Switzerland. In the Iberoamerican Documentary category; \u201cThe sky is red\u201d (Francina Carbonell); and three short films selected for the Iberoamerican Short Film; \u201cAn impossible love story\u201d, directed by Javier Mardones; \u201cI dreamed I was alive\u201d, directed by Sebasti\u00e1n Gonz\u00e1lez; and \u201cA house in the sand\u201d, directed by Crist\u00f3bal Garc\u00eda.<\/p>\n<p>Chilean animation cinema are represented by \u201cUninhabited\u201d (Camila Donoso); \u201cBeast\u201d (Hugo Covarrubias); and \u201cThe bones\u201d (Crist\u00f3bal Le\u00f3n and Joaqu\u00edn Coci\u00f1a), with subjects underlining a diverse and the consolidation of its industry. With them is \u201cNidal\u201d, a documentary showing how the real estate industry has destabilized the natural surroundings of Chile\u2019s coast, forcing inhabitants to survive. This movie has joined \u201cFILM4CLIMATE\u201d, a project aimed at raising awareness on climate change through cinema and its production. <\/p>\n<p>With notorious participation, the Chilean film embassy has also drawn attention at FICG with its proposals at the Coproduction Meeting, with projects like \u201cAhora vienen por nosotros\u201d, \u201cAnimals\u201d, \u201cGiraffes\u201d, \u201cThe white room\u201d, and \u201cVolver a casa\u201d, as well as the documentary \u201cUnder suspicion\u201d, directed by Daniel D\u00edaz, at Doculab: Documentaries Laboratory; \u201cEl baile de los que sobran\u201d, by Angel Linares and Emilio Aguilar at Episode 0: Developing series; not forgetting \u201cHistory and Geography\u201d\u2019s first cut, directed by Bernardo Quesney and present at Guadalajara Builds, where it\u2019s looking for funding.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>By Zeta Tijuana OCTOBER 5, 201.
