The selection includes seven documentaries, which are among the 37 fiction and documentary feature-length projects selected this year.<\/p>\n<p>The market is aimed at projects in the final stages of development and financing, offering one-to-one meetings with potential co-producers, public and private financiers, distributors, sales agents and other key players in the audiovisual industry.<\/p>\n<p>Among the selected documentaries with Chilean participation is \u201cUntitled Water Documentary\u201d, directed by Carola Fuentes and produced by Ina Fichman and Rafael Valdeavellano. A co-production between Chile, Canada and France, the project is led by La Ventana Cine in collaboration with Intuitive Pictures. The documentary follows an international team of journalists investigating the environmental costs of multinational companies\u2019 activities in Latin America.<\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cIt is an ambitious project that we have been working on for many years, and we are very happy to now have a co-production with France and Canada. We are very close to closing our financing gap, so being selected for a market as exclusive as Venice is a huge boost. Producing high-impact documentaries from Chile is not easy, which is why reaching an event like this is a very important opportunity for the entire team\u201d<\/em>, says Carola Fuentes, director of \u201cUntitled Water Documentary\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>The second project, \u201cDon&#8217;t Let the Sun Go Up on Me\u201d, by director Asmae El Moudir, is a co-production between Morocco, Norway, France and Chile, with the participation of Chilean producer Giancarlo Nasi of Quijote Films. The documentary follows the story of Fatimazahra, a young woman with xeroderma pigmentosum (XP), a genetic disorder that requires her to avoid sunlight and leads her to build her life around the night.
