«The International Film and Audiovisual Co-Production Agreement signed between Chile and Spain, which joins those in force with Argentina, Germany, Brazil, Canada, France, Italy and Venezuela, is excellent news. In addition to strengthening ties with this country, with which we already have cultural agreements, it directly benefits the audiovisual sector, as it contributes to the development, prestige and economic expansion of the film and audiovisual industries, so highly valued by both States».

With these words, the Chilean Minister of Culture, Arts and Heritage, Jaime de Aguirre, highlighted the signing of the International Administrative Agreement on Film and Audiovisual Co-Production between the Kingdom of Spain and the Republic of Chile, headed by President Gabriel Boric and the President of the Government of Spain, Pedro Sánchez, at the Moncloa Palace, Madrid.

On the occasion, the Chilean President emphasized that «with Spain we share values and work for a fair future in community. Together with President Pedro Sánchez, we reaffirmed that commitment and signed four agreements on cybersecurity, film and cultural co-production, foreign policy and dissemination of human rights and memory. I am sure that we will continue to strengthen the common path between Chile and Spain to achieve greater welfare for our compatriots».

Paula Ossandón, Director of Chiledoc, comments on the importance of the agreement: «International co-productions are an essential tool for strengthening production, marketing and reaching new audiences. Developing content with Spain, which represents a very attractive market for the Chilean audiovisual industry, will allow us to access new funds, raise business opportunities, access to distributors and other audiences».

Regarding the implications that this agreement has for the national audiovisual sector, Ossandón points out that «this co-production agreement will allow us to raise audiovisual exchange with Spain, which needed this fundamental boost to generate new exchanges, alliances and commercialization. We have common elements that allow us to hope for good results from these links, such as socio-cultural similarities and a common language. From Chiledoc we feel that this agreement means a great boost for the production, distribution and commercialization of Chilean documentaries and documentary series.»
