“THE LETELIER FILE” WINS BEST HISTORY PITCH AT SUNNY SIDE OF THE DOC

27 junio, 2025

Great news for Chilean documentary! The documentary series produced by La Ventana Cine (Chicago Boys), The Letelier File, wins two awards in the History pitch at Sunny Side of the Doc, the most relevant international market in France, specialized in non-fiction factual content.

The Letelier File, winner of the National Television Council (CNTV) 2024 fund, still in production stage, is directed by Rafael Valdeavellano and Nicolás Acuña, and produced by Mitzy Saldivia, and the participation of producer, director and journalist Carola Fuentes as showrunner, has just received the Best History Pitch and the Lionel Guenoun Prize from Will Production in the French market, demonstrating once again the high quality and high positioning of the Chilean documentary in the world.

The project reveals the hidden network of spies, secret agents and covert operations behind the car bomb assassination of former Chilean ambassador Orlando Letelier in the United States, exposing an international diplomatic scandal whose full story comes to light today, as the 50th anniversary approaches.

Carola Fuentes, after receiving the two awards along with Rafa Valdeavellano, said: «We are very happy because we won the History Pitch, in a very competitive space, where there were six incredible projects competing. This year we were three Chilean projects selected in different pitches at Sunny Side of the Doc, a market perhaps not so well known in Chile, but which is very relevant. In fact, last year after our visit here, we obtained a co-production with Spain for a series that has already premiered on Spanish TV, called «Hope!». And now we are leaving with a co-production with Holland for “The Letelier File” and another co-production with Germany for a third project. We are very excited and grateful for these achievements and for all the support received from institutions such as Chiledoc».
