Synopsis

Amid a deep social conflict, the filmmaker, a blind disability activist eradicated in Canada, returns to her native Chile to follow five social actors who embark on a transformative process to dignify their lives.

    María Teresa Larraín is a Chilean-Canadian filmmaker. She studied Law and Theatre in Chile and emigrated to Canada during the dictatorship. She graduated in Radio and Television Arts in Toronto and participated in programs such as Sundance and the National Film Board of Canada. After losing her sight, she pursued Critical Disability Studies. Her films explore themes of social justice, including El Juicio de Pascual Pichún (2007), Shadow Girl (Niña Sombra, 2016), and Bodies in Crisis (Cuerpos en Crisis, 2025).

    Producer

    Teresa Ariztía is a Chilean producer and researcher, a strategic designer with a Master’s degree in Sociology from the University of Barcelona. She co-produced Bodies in Crisis after researching social conflict in Chile. Her work includes the development and distribution of films such as Shadow Girl (Niña Sombra), interactive projects like To Walk Alone VR (2019), and various cultural and educational initiatives with a social justice focus, combining audiovisual production and research.
