Synopsis

Chile’s experience of socialism in democracy in 1970, which impressed the world, had a musical correlate with Inti-Illimani as a protagonist, until the 1973 coup. In their 15-year exile, they immersed themselves in Italian society and upon their return in 1988, the utopia, their lives and their music had changed. This documentary portrays the road they traveled.

  Documentarian, journalist, and producer. Founder of The Union Films. Experienced in directing, filmmaking, and producing documentary projects for cinema and television. Some of his documentary films include Unfinished Plan: The Path of Alain Johannes, Site 53, Los Jaivas: All Together, and Hawker Hunter: The Sound of Silence. He also produced the documentary film When I Breathe in Your Mouth, about the band Lucybell. He is currently directing the documentary series This Is Our Party for NTV.

  Director

  Filmmaker, researcher, and academic at the University of Chile. Holds a Master’s in Art and Media from the University of Westminster, England, and a degree in Documentary Filmmaking from the International Film School in Cuba. Her works include the trilogy Visual Letters, the feature films 74 Square Metres, Shifting Earth, Solitary Land, and Southern Mechanics, among others. She is the author of the book Joris Ivens in Chile: Documentary Between Poetry and Critique. She is currently directing the documentary Fossil Matter.

  Director

  Audiovisual creator, journalist, and holder of a Master’s in Latin American Musicology from Universidad Alberto Hurtado. Author of the documentary Quilapayún: Beyond the Song and co-director of the documentaries Secondary Actors and Black Angels. With experience in print, radio, and television media, he is also the founder and co-editor of the encyclopaedic site MusicaPopular.cl

  Producer

  Director and producer. Founder of The Union Films. Graduate of the MBA in Innovation and Entrepreneurship at Universidad del Desarrollo. Served as executive producer of the documentary When I Breathe in Your Mouth, about the band Lucybell, and as Director of Photography for the documentary Unfinished Plan: The Path of Alain Johannes. He is a professor and researcher at Universidad del Desarrollo and has participated in international projects such as Horizon 2020 of the European Commission. His experience includes directing cultural programmes and digital platforms. He is currently producing the documentary series This Is Our Party for NTV.

• Paula

  Saenz- Laguna

  Producer

  With experience in independent production for television and documentaries, she collaborated through the production company Nueva Imagen on programmes such as El Show de los Libros and Cine Video. Later, continuing in the realm of investigative documentary programmes, she served as the general producer for Canción Nacional, Piel de Jaguar, País Serio, Grandes Chilenos, among others. She has independently produced documentaries such as Mauchos, Intimatta, Lemebel, Southern Mechanics, and Hawker Hunter: The Sound of Silence. She is currently developing the documentary Fossil Matter.
