Synopsis

In Chile’s arid countryside, two old poets—a devout shepherd and a wily laborer—raise coplas to the heavens. In their voices—at times solemn, at times festive—an oral wisdom, human and divine, endures, transfiguring the sorrows and joys of a peasantry burdened by poverty.

  Director and Producer

  Founder of Trino Films, he is a multifaceted filmmaker whose career spans roles from director and writer to producer. He directed the short films The Vivid Abyss (2014), Bahauddin (2015), and El Cometa (Best Short Film, IN-EDIT 2020). As a producer, his credits include Absence (Havana Film Festival, 2018), Synchrony (Hot Docs 2024), the Belgian–Chilean co-production Volcán (Millenium Festival, Belgium, 2024), and South of Winter, Lies the Snow (Jerusalem Film Festival 2025, Chantal Akerman Competition; Best Chilean Film, SANFIC 21).

  Director and Producer

  Director with a “Bachelor’s Degree in Aesthetics and Film Practice” at Sorbonne 1 University, Paris, France. He completes his training studying “Audiovisual Technician” at Duoc UC, San Carlos de Apoquindo. He worked as an editor in the feature documentary “La memoria atrapada” directed by Cristián Leighton, and also as an editing assistant for editors such as Andrea Chignoli.

• Claudia

  León

  Executive Producer

  Producer trained at the University of Toulouse, France, and at the Lussas film school. She has collaborated with directors such as Matías Lira, Alicia Scherson, and Sergio Castro San Martín, and has been part of the production teams of films including the short film Lovebirds by Víctor Moreno, premiered in Málaga in 2021; The Romantic Exiles (Los exiliados románticos) by Jonás Trueba (Spain, 2014); and Red Eyes (Ojos Rojos) by Juan Ignacio Sabatini and Juan Pablo Sallato.

  In 2018, she founded Faro Cine, focused on the development and production of films with an emphasis on international co-production and distribution. In 2022, she took part in the Eurodoc documentary co-production workshop. She is currently developing a new documentary project by Hungarian director Asia Dèr (Two Mothers, 2022; I Won’t Die, 2023, Cannes Docs).
