The filmmaker sets out to create a way to update his parents on both intimate family matters and social political events, starting with his father’s death just days after Allende’s election, until today. Fifty years of the filmmaker’s life and of Chile based on a combination of personal family archival footage and new material give rise to an intimate, sociopolitical fabric that persists in the investigative, exploratory form of AGÜERO’s films, which he calls the cinema of divagation.
Director
Ignacio Agüero was born in Santiago in 1952. He studied architecture and filmmaking. In 1978, he directed his first film «Today is thursday movie day”, initiating the beginning of an exemplary filmography that primarily focuses on documentaries. Notable works include “One hundred children waiting for a train”, “Agustin’s Newspaper”, and “Notes for a Film”. Agüero has been recognized as an important filmmaker in Latin America, having received numerous awards at international festivals. His filmography has been exhibited in various retrospectives at leading international cultural institutions, including the Centre Pompidou in France, as well as The Lincoln Center in New York.
