Synopsis

Two friends are trying to make a film about an American priest who moved to the south of Chile after dropping the atomic bomb on Hiroshima. They feed on stories, and sometimes the stories devour them. They wander through memories, the forces of WWII, and the forces of physics. They walk and think. They walk and argue. They come across the wreckage of houses, cranes, billboards, and bushes. They meditate on bombings, repressions, and people’s positions in crucial conflicts. As they move between data, emotions, and extreme ideologies, uncertainty arises. If one thing is sure, it is that their point of views are never the same. «The Veteran” is a narrative essay film that explores the mysterious traces left by the past and a reflection on how we perceive historical events.
