José Matías Guevara sought to validate his voice through his YouTube channel as he transitioned from one gender to another in search of happiness. With the support of his mother and sisters, he appeared to lead a joyful, ordinary life. However, at just 15 years old, exhausted by school bullying, he decided to jump from the eleventh floor of his building. After the tragedy, his mother, Marcela Guevara, transforms her grief into a mission to ensure that no other child endures what her son went through.

More than forty years ago, Pablo Salas picked up a camera and began documenting the defining moments of our history. His images—direct witnesses to a country fractured by Pinochet’s dictatorship—became an essential part of our collective memory. Today, drawing from an archive of more than 1,800 hours of footage, we revisit this material—a digital cartography of a wounded Chile—to trace the path of the man whose relentless gaze gave it form.
