Albertina (78) is the matriarch of San Miguel (Arica, Chile), a town built on indigenous tombs. She bears with the responsibility of mediating between the community and the Ño, a rag doll revered in Carnival week that embodies the creative and destructive forces of the earth. Albertina’s death shakes the town and strikes her family. Now without her guidance, they must abide by the traditions she instilled in them to ensure the balance between the living and the dead.
Director
César Borie is a director, scriptwriter and researcher. Among his projects we find the documentaries “Fiesta para los Muertos” (2005) and “Alcones” (in post-production). “Albertina y los muertos” is his first feature documentary.

Rocío Romero is a film producer and co-founder of Mimbre Films. Her credits are: “Naomi Campbel” (CPH:DOX 2014), “Plants” (Berlinale 2016 – Best Film, Generation) and “Nona, if they soak me, I’ll burn them” (IFFR Tiger Competition 2019).
